Swim lessons and Lawence 4th of July fair

Tonight we went to the Lawrence Park 4th of July fair. It's been a long tradition in my family. We were pretty much raised going to the park for the 4th. It's a lot smaller now, but the kids still had a good time. Mason is already asking for the bigger, faster rides that the "dino-coaster". He's still a little short for the Himalaya! The slide was a huge hit for both kids. I don't think I've ever paid so much money to go down a slide! Of course we could leave without Audrey tripping and eating some more pavement. A busted/swollen lip and a scraped chin, we were on our way home! We avoided the goldfish again!! I have a feeling that won't last forever.

We even got Mamaw to go down!

Daddy and Mason, and Uncle Jeron and Audrey

This monkey was hilarious! Of course all you do is give him quarters and he takes them puts them in his pocket and tips his hat to you. What a scam, but the kids were really into him and he was pretty funny to watch. I guess a quarter wasn't too bad to pay for entertaining 5 adults and 2 kids!
ISR

Mason just finished his refresher course of ISR (infant swim resource: www.infantswim.com) and Audrey is almost finished with her lessons. Mason did so great! He now swims underwater and rolls to float when he's tired or needing air. Audrey, well, she hates her lessons, cries the whole time, but she has learned a lot too! She can swim a few feet underwater, and knows how to roll over and float when she needs air also. She still needs a little more practice, so she will probably finish in a week or so. These lessons are absolutely worth the time and money! It's amazing to watch what they learn. Not to mention the fact that they can save themselves!!!!

One of the survival checkoffs is to be "flipped" back into the water to simulate falling and and being disoriented in the water. He thought that was fun!
The last week of lessons, the kids wear summer, fall/spring, and winter clothes. They want to make sure the kids can use their swim/float/swim skills in the heaviest clothes they would be in.

What a look! Can't you just read her mind "what did I do to you to deserve this!!!"
